More about Carla…
Carla is originally from Dallas, Texas, which still felt like a small town when she was growing up. She goes back regularly for the community and big sky.
Carla always loved the excitement of trying something new and left the south for the east coast of the US to receive her Bachelor of Arts in 1999 from the University of Pennsylvania (Philadelphia, PA). Thereafter she headed west and worked for a time at the Sundance Film Festival before moving on to receive her JD from Loyola Law School (Los Angeles, CA) in 2005, with a call to the California bar.
When she moved to Toronto in 2005, she worked in corporate real estate for several years – both at Cushman & Wakefield and Avison Young Real Estate Management Services.
An avid practitioner of yoga for over 18 years, it was in 2012 that Carla took the leap into the world of wellness, completing a 225-hour Yoga Alliance Certified Teacher training program. She never looked back. Since then she has taken a number of related workshops and trainings, and expanded her offerings with a 28-hour Kids' Yoga Teacher certification (Toronto, ON), and coursework in mindfulness and mindfulness based cognitive therapy from the Centre for Mindfulness Studies (Toronto, ON) and Monash University (Sydney, Australia).
For six years Carla has taught yoga, meditation and mindfulness both privately and at some amazing studios in Toronto. She has run corporate events for the likes of RBC Dominion, co-facilitated mindfulness workshops for TD Canada Trust and has had the pleasure of guiding classes for staff at the ROM and SickKids Hospital.
Carla offers meditations, workshops, classes, guest speaking appearances and one-on-one coaching around Toronto, occasionally further away and over the phone or virtually.
Carla’s drive to learn – and to share – is constant. As she teaches, she remains an avid student - exploring new insights, programs and coursework that bolster her ability to deliver best-in-practice services to her clients and hone her expertise in mindfulness, yoga, meditation, emotional intelligence and neuroscience.
